Man vs. society
This was the main conflict throughout The Road as the man and the boy were faced against the rest of the survivors of the catastrophe competing for the same goods in order to survive. They came across many different people throughout the novel, and everyone they came across they had to use precaution, in case they are a threat to their lives.
Man vs. self
The man found himself fighting himself in order to keep moving forward even though he was very sick. His whole motivation to keep moving on however was his son, and without him, the man would have probably just given up.
man vs. man
Man vs. man was another typical kind of conflict that was present in The Road. This was experienced by the man and other people he came across during his journey towards a better lifestyle. He got into verbal confrontations with other people, and he also shot and killed another man who posed a threat to him and his son's life.
